'On The Beach' - the new challenge starting at Stamping Dragon Designs

Hello and welcome to my scrapbooking blog.

What glorious weather we are having!  Great for the tan but not good for the crafting. It is  so difficult to stay indoors with such brilliant sunshine when we know that it could disappear so quickly. But let's enjoy it while it lasts and collect lots of sunny day memories for future scrapbooking projects.

Today I am posting my DT project for the Stamping with the Dragon new challenge starting today 19th July. The theme is a topical one....'On the Beach'. Stamping Dragon also sponsor the challenge and provide the prize for the winner. You can find the details of the challenge here and at the bottem of this posting.

I am using the digital  scrapbook paper from Stamping Dragon Designs called ' Playtime' and I love the bright citrus colours that lend themselves well to the holiday theme.

My subject for this page is Finn our cocker spaniel. I made this Twinchie last summer when we photographed Finn in his RayBans and it seemed the ideal focus for the theme. The lime green backing paper seem to be ideal for matching with the Playtime digital kit. The background paper comes from the Pastel Swirls pack in a cool blue to add some contrast to the bright elements. I chose to use pieces of the papers  rather than whole pages as I felt vivid colours  might overpower any photo.

Using Photoshop I created some clipping masks to make chevrons and used these to 'cut' the shapes from the papers. I also used a ribbon banner clipping mask to 'cut' the large orange element to give the layout a bit of punch. I also created the scalloped circle to decorate the 'Surf's Up Dude' sentiment which was digitally cut with the photoshop cookie-cutter tool.

Some arangement of the shapes, some added text and the page was complete.  I am really pleased with this and I do love this twinchie.

Now its your turn. Time to get crafting, and once your projects are ready, dont forget to come back and link up to our challenge. The prize for the winner is a £5 voucher to the

New Challenge at Stamping with the Dragon - Altered Anything

Hello and welcome to my scrapbokking blog.

Today my post is not a layout but an 'Altered Anything' to join in with the new challenge starting today over at Stamping with the Dragon .  My altered  DT project of choice is a circular box.  Stamping Dragon Designs as usual are providing the prize for the winner.

The prize for the winner is a £5 voucher to the

I've had the box since last Christmas and couldn't decide what to do with it and this DT project gave me a chance to decorate the box with some christmassy style stuff I had to hand.

I have chosen to use the Striped Patterned paper from Stamping Dragon Designs  Pastel Swirls digital kit.  Lots of bright colours, the paper has a Toy Box feel to it.

I covered the base of the box with the paper and added a band of fine ribbon with a white flourish design and gold edging.  I then added a strip of orange RickRack to the bottem of the base and a row of die cut flower shapes to pick up the orange stripe in the paper.

I then covered the lid of the box with the same paper and adhered another strip of orange Rick Rack  to the outside of the  rim. I die-cut a punched scalloped circle from  piece of blue Core-dinations paper  to place in the middle of the box lid. Using a Sizzix 'Flowers with Flourish Stems' strip die I cut a selection of flourishes in paper colours to compliment the chosen paper. I've made some ribbon roses in wired green organza ribbon and hot-glued them in a cluster to the centre of the lid.

I added some pearls to  the centre of the roses to add detail. I also hot-glued buttons in various colours to the lid adding crystals  and pearls to the centre of each button.. The lid was finished with a bow made from the same ribbon that wraps the box base.

This is a departure from what I would usually post on my 'Scrapbooking Blog' but I had fun with this project and I hope you do to when you take part in our challenge.

Now its your turn. Time to get crafting, and once your projects are ready, dont forget to come back and link up to our challenge. If you want to know more about the products the DT work with & about all the Stamping Dragon news, visit us on on our sister blog, The Dragons Den..
